My school is new to the competition this year and we are having trouble finding parts due to them being discontinued.  We almost had to pull out of the competition. We plan on using Banebots rs 775 motors, but cannot find a speed controller that will match the specs of the one that banesbots use to have. Is there anyone else having this issue? What have you found that will compare?
Thanks for help

Banebots motors are really heavy brushed motors. I'd recommend these speed controllers http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=35663 and these motors http://www.hobbypartz.com/96m280-2848-1800kv-22t.html with 16:1 or 26:1 P60s. Also, pick up one of these; they make it really easy to program the ESC. http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=31984

Make sure to loctite EVERY bolt and set screw in your gearbox and motors, and buy P60s with the RS3xx mount, or you will have to drill your own holes on the mount side. Have you figured out what transmitter, receiver, and battery type you'll be using?

I am a big fan of the speed controllers www.botbitz.com has to offer. I'd recommend checking them out

I no longer post as actively here, but have a few build reports/listings of parts used for 15s over here
http://sparc.tools/forum/index.php

For basics I would suggest a Wang box (http://www.rrevo.com/product/36gearboxen/) or P60 for drive. If you want to go brushed a RS550 with a botbitz ESC is fairly bullet proof, if you desire brushless I've had luck with the Turnigy Trackstar 1/10 brushless motor, and Turnigy TrackStar 25A 1/18th.

For your weapon motor, it is really dependent on your weapon type, and weight. I'd suggest for that looking at similar weaponed bots to whatever your design is, and using a similar motor to them.
