So far I have a shell and more parts on the way. The majority of the work should be done over my spring break (this week).

Just because I've read a few forums for years without posting and the fact that I've never commented on Pine View's team blog doesn't mean anything.

Eddie,
You're going to make your shell out of billet...looks like steel? You not worried about wasting a lot of material?
Yeah I'm going to be cranking out parts like crazy this week too. Who says spring break is for rest and relaxation?

It's a 3 inch wide piece of rolled steel with a 12 inch diameter circle welded on the top, all made from 10 gauge steel. It currently weighs 7.5 pounds so I'll be taking some material out of the top.

Oh it is welded. My mistake. Did you do it yourself or have it outsourced?
By the way. In case you don't already know. I'm your opponent from UT Arlington. Mini Maverick. Just so you don't give away anything that you might not otherwise not want me to know.

I don't have access to a metal roller so we had the shell made.

So Eddie, how's the robot coming along? Are you excited to show it off?

he milled triangles out of the top of it that look really good, and has his center bearing assembly done and his baseplate is started with the drive motors and weapon motor mounts mounted. The shell spins amazingly smooth... i'm SO jealous of his bearing... he got a piece of 4340 barstock for his teeth that he still needs to cut - we couldn't do it in our shop.
I don't have any pictures of HIS bot so I'll let him put some up, and hopefully HE will talk about it cause it's HIS bot... lol

Sounds nice, but just fyi, you do realize that I'm his competition. I mean I don't think he cares and I certainly wouldn't but we are mortal enemies because of battlebots.
I can't wait to see his robot, it'll be 3 spinners and a wedge. Can you say AWESOME! What a rumble that'll be. Next year I want to build a 120 lb. robot if I can get the funding. The sooner we can eliminate wedges from Battlebots the better. Then again, they are good target practice.

I agree. Never count your chickens before they hatch. That robot is one heavily armored wedge.

Wow, I didn't realize it was a veteran wedge with some skills and tricks up it's sleeve. I know there are some awesome wedges out there, E2V2 being one of them, but I couldn't find much info on Intersteller Drive other than their website which I doubt has been updated recently.
I'm actually worried about them getting up under me because my robot sits way too high off the ground. I was going to weld some aluminum teeth to the bottom of my shell just as a precaution, but it isss aluminum.

http://forums.delphiforums.com/THERFL/messages/?msg=1897.1 ^ theres a little bit about it did you see the video of it against surgical strike?
What the thickness of your bot? What if you took little pieces of tool steel and slotted the middle of them to and screwed them threw the shell?

My shell is .16 thick and I actually thought about that tooth idea but 1) this thing ships monday and I don't have time to design or make anything, and 2) I'm at my weight limit as it is.
14.5 BABY! Hopefully it didn't raid the fridge when I went home last night.

Where was that video of Interstellar drive? I looked all over the site but I couldn't find anything.

Any idea how tall it is? Looks like a good 2-3 inches.
