Watch this and let me know what y'all think. If I go above 50% power it will just go into a continuous coin. I am going to try and get the shell balanced tomorrow on a tire balancing machine but I haven't ruled out other possibilities. I was thinking it may be resonance or it could be my Sprung motors bouncing on the shell. Let me know what y'all think it may be.

Your shell looks to be going pretty ridiculously fast, and with two 2826 im sure it is haha

Im not sure how your holding your shell down so im not sure if the spring tension has alot to do with it going off balance.

Does it do it when you just take it to full speed without hitting anything?

After hits your gonna have that. If i were you id practicing driving and when you anticipate a good hit turn up the speed as fast as you can and bring it back down to regain stability, while the lower speed of the weapon will make it a little easier to drive, i know we do this and Matt Gallagher builder/driver of humdinger2 does it, and he does it very very good to haha

One possibility that I can think of is certain objects are simply not balanced enough to spin above a certain RPM - hence the warnings on some circular saw blades and several hilarious videos involving a dremel & CDs on youtube. It may be that once it passes a certain speed, the shell is just not balanced enough to run that fast.

Eddie's shell does the same thing... it was spinning up, spinning up, looking great, then all of a sudden it started bouncing like yours... but the top disc on his shell for his friction drive isn't the flattest disc... you can see his springloaded motors bouncing up and down as it spins...

It is going 2400RPM at 35% Power!!!!
That equates to 10... 4... 27... Almost exactly 100 MPH at the tips of the teeth!
I am going to try and make my shell more balanced I guess.
I may have one or two more tricks up my sleeve that I can't reveal though...

DUDE! That's a great idea. Use a dremel to spin the heck out of a CD. I'm gonna try that tomorrow.

Um I was just kidding about the whole shattering a CD thing. I don't wanna get hit with any more flying shrapnel. Buuuut, I could put the dremel in the vise of my enclosed CNC and let it rip.

For some reason, I've been a lot safer this year than in the past. Ordinarily I'd be the first to jump out of a plane without a parachute but now I won't go 5 over the speed limit. (stupid traffic tickets)

Sean,

Haha. Well I want to see the video of what no one did to the printer after no one took it. Hopefully it was torn into a million pieces with parts flying everywhere.

Cody,

Yeah that's irony for you. Man getting your car towed after only a week of having it? Dang.

Actually I liked my school cop, he was pretty cool and really into robotics. He would always come by with visitors of the school and made sure they didn't leave without visiting our shop. Maybe me having a snowball as he walked up infront of me made him think I was going to throw it at him. BUT I WOULD NEVER DO THAT! Like I said, I don't want to get tasered.

DON'T TASE ME BRO!

hahaha we saraned wrapped our ones car, the one that hated us because she knew that my friends and i killed the grass infront on the school by chance in the shape of a rather large penis but could never prove it lol

Our robotics are hardly recognized by our school, our school board loves the program but doesnt give us any funding at all, we get more recognitation from pittsburgh newspapers and news stations haha

i just told Senai over PM ill be doing alot of sucking up at our local competition this weekend since they asked me to give industry professionals tours of everything lol

Ive already talked to the local head up hear and i doubt i/ we would be allowed to compete at the pittsburgh competition, but I could convince them to let demos/grudge matches so the bots would get a little more use.

Dan i dont think you'll have any problems with battlebots at CMU we all know about there 120 but the used to have a 15lb bot that looked alot like our shockwave, i tried sending them an email threw youtube about the status of there bots and never recieved a reply i think it pretty much died when the infamous lol Victor Soto and his friends graduated.
