Battlebots Nationals 2009 - San Francisco

Well, for starters, who's going? I won't be able to, unfortunately.

We'll be bringing out Copperhead 3.141592654 - that's right. Copperhead Pi lol and the dethinator...

I'll be going!!!! I'm bringing Bearkin. Which is the same thing as Timothy Higgins. Which hasn't actually been put together yet.

SpiderPig, Cuddlebunny, Fluffy, Snuggles, and The Woodynator 2 are going.

Will which one is Cuddlebunny again?

From what I saw today, Spiderpig is something pretty special. I think all the hype I've gotten so far is essentially justified; it does something no other robot its size has ever done. All the team has allowed me to say is "it can pull things toward itself". It'll probably look underwhelming when it's not running, but boy... no one will see this coming.

Sorry about the secrecy guys, but I think you'll understand why the first time you see it run.

Will, do you plan to do the sneak peak photo I suggested once it's shipped off? We did something similar in '07 for nationals.

How about you stop with the secrecy now and show us? That way we can plan some sort of defense

A sneak peak will mean nothing. We can show you a picture once the robot is completed and you will have no idea what makes it special.

I am pretty smart... So is Dan. And if you are so confident that we wouldn't be able to figure it out, post a random drawing of it(along with a 500 word description of how it fights ).

that's the whole point. well, I'll say as much as that it doesn't have a destructive weapon such as a flywheel, drum, horizontal disc, bar, sawblade, chainsaw, flamethrower, Browning .50 Cal machine gun, or stuffed animal on top.

also, dughi has a point.. you just won't get it anyway..

Actually, what Dughi says is true. It's sort of enigmatic - the contraption that makes it special isn't much to look at. Although if it's the picture I had in mind, there would definitelly be a "LOL WTF" moment for whoever looked at it.

That's kind of more than a picture. You just won't get it from a picture.

I kid you not, I have seen robots with stuffed animals as part of the weapon. I think Team Cosmos did a few of those.

I know! i always think their hiding something under it!

i bet its an electromagnet on one side of the bot thats not the top or bottom. it attaches to the other bot with it then spins around in a circle quickly and turns of the magnet throwing the other bot against the wall.
there could be an electromagnet on the bottom to anchor it to the arena floor.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that its against the rules to use electromagnets as weapons.
