Subject: Coming soon....Some new bots from MLEC .... Mon May 04, 2009 10:48 pm
A sponsor has stepped forward and so it looks like we will have 2 new bots!!
Those who remember the rattlers, these will be similar , but a fairly serious upgrade.
Like the rattlers , 1 will be a powered wedge and the other a drum bot, but both are chameleons and will be able to easily convert from one to the other or even to other weapons.
The cool part is the armor is almost 1/4" thick titanium!!
Should have some pics of the first one in a few days.
It will feature a wedge and shovel or plow....again out of titanium.
Both bots will have much more pushing power and 1" wide colsons on the 4 corners. They may also be as fast or faster than the rattlers.
They will also be a fair bit smaller...2" narrower, a bit shorter and lower than the rattlers.
edit: Did I mention that they may be indestructible ...lol

Is 1/4" titanium necessary?! Whats the point of making your bots faster since your kids cant handle them as it is

They may be faster...not sure....depends on some motors that we're playing with.
It's actually .225" thick titanium...
Is it necessary?
I guess that if we can use it and still make weight, then it should be somewhat spinner resistant, no?
Whatever we hit at full speed, beit the wall or another bot......we plan to take on anyone and everyone and hopefully survive the onslaught...lol
when your drum or egg beater meets are .225 titanium powered wedge, it should be interesting to say the least....

Huh, 1/4" Ti? Those things could give F15 (Falcon 15) a run for its money. And as far as I know, F15 has never been damaged in competition.

Aftershock was stuck on the floor and got torn up, SnS didnt have a weapon and a drive motor locked up
Im talking about the hits taken to the Ti and even that it was the aluminum frame pieces that were damaged not the ti

when you see how these are made, not much chance of alu damage...but anything's possible.
No more chewy alu for you guys to munch on

That's the idea...once you go up the wedge, you hit .225 thick verticals, and we are now under you...so who's gonna fly? we're firmly braced against thee ground
We should have some testing results once the drum bot is built.
Also, you can kisss those floating sedge thingies on the front of your bots good bye...you're already having problems keeping them on....

See if you pay attention there only used against wedges anymore. You do realize you guys havent gone a whole three minutes with a decent bot. We fought the flipper that took second place at robogames two years ago with original shockwave and wooped it with our batteries half charged(horrible match honestly), and it was alot better built then your bots

wow we built the best bots in the nation this year and have beat you guys twice. We've beaten the best botsiq wedge in the nation....twice and beaten the best drum out there at our regional event. Seriously for being an adult your maturity level is even lower than a middle school.
two of the best drums

You're misunderstanding what I said....
Your bots are great, all we are doing is gearing up to make it a bit better contest, if and when we should meet again..
So take a chill pill and relax...while you might not care, at least we are showing some of our changes in advance....it is equivalent to the sponsor who machines all your parts showing some detail
It's all in good fun, but a spirit of compettition does exist.
I'll concede our losses easily, but we have made some progress, even with the rattlers. We even put all our losses up on U-tube......
for anyone who might be interested, here are some more parts for the wedge bot...
titanium shaft and wedge verticals along with some wedge mounts and a slip clutch pulley.

our sponsors show off our bots not our parts. I just think its rather odd that you are all over the different forums and with the size of your team there has not been one of your kids expressing an intrest as all of us have. Seriously how do you build a bot and not even know which way to spin the drum?! Was it you or a different advisor that drove the bots in saftey inspection last year?! Sorry for my curiousity.

F15 hasnt fought a bot of nearly the level of what they are today, it would definitly be something to see

Curiousity gets the better of me....
I never actually said anything about your bots till an earlier post today after you critized ours (rofl). When i asked if it was necesarry i just didnt see the point of using the weight, ive never ment to be objective till the mentioned earlier post. I'm sorry that it bothers me that it seems like you have built these bots yourself (basically professionaly) and you come onto the forum with the attitude that you do.

If I remember correctly though, there aren't any bots with a 100% Ti chassis - except F15. I do agree that their weapon is definitely WAY outclassed now. Funny side note, Falcon (the 120) hasn't seen any upgrades to its frame in at least the past four years, and it still won the championship.

Our new bots are not 100% ti...just the outer parts
