conundrum's radio problems PLAGUED me the entire competition. No one knew what was wrong with it. And no one could figure it out! We tried almost everything!

i was so right at one lb i had to scrap my nice lexan cover and use duct tape!
but i haven't dissected conundrum yet to identify the problem... i will at some point though. I want to compete again with it, because yes, it was beating up on everyone lol.

I also had radio problems in my beetle, so I scrapped the spektrum for PPM and went without problems the rest of the event. But really, it might be down to the battery's inability source current (another problem I had). Try a number of things to narrow the problem. I would love to see it at 100%!
But as for the video, I have the angle from the other side if this one was hard to see. I think you could have beaten shazbot if you had good reception, and little wedgelets in the front. =D
Oh, and I have our rumble from the end ;P
Too bad we never had a formal match! Look forward to seeing ya again! -Jamo

Well, I do know at the event He bought additional spektrum receivers and brushless controllers, but if they were the same model we can only eliminate a few possibilities.
From what I heard, the issue was that after about half throttle, the weapon would cut out and sometimes it would lose signal, putting it into the circular motion.
Possible things: 1) battery cannot source the spin up amps. I know that inrunners will draw many amps compared to outrunners for example and in doing so can zap the BEC to the receiver, thus resulting in signal loss. Then the radio spends lots of time trying to find the signal again. I had the same issue with Pacman this event, explaining the motionlessness vs Son of Thump. We might try ramping the drum up slowly to see if it surpasses the previous point or trying a large capacity battery to test the same thing. maybe the motor needs to change, who knows?
2) maybe the weapon trim is off? Some controllers are picky and will shut off when a signal passes the "normal" range on a TX.
3) bad radio equipment? I can only think about using a whole nother tx rx set that we know works for certain. Like how I switched to my FM set for example.
That is all I could think of at the moment. Keep us updated if you try anything! =D

I think he is using a feigao inrunner and agree that he probably needs to try a high discharge rate pack....I would have lent him one, but nthing fits his ittle bot and we were a little pre-occupied
We also had some radio problems with both our bots when we fought( if that's what you can called it) each other.
Sting was roaming aimlessly for the last 30 seconds and SOT drove off tinto the pit out of control...sometimes it seemed like 1 transmitter was controlling the other bot.
We've probably had both receivers bound to both transmitters at one time or another during testing....I wonder if that could have something to do with it.
We binded the 2 bots after that show and everything seemed ok...strange to say the least

Yeah, I tried a slightly higher output/less mAh battery with the same results...
I am running a Feigao brushless inrunner motor and a Castle Thunderbird-18 ESC for my weapon system, and two Fingertech TinyESCs and 2 Sanyo 56:1 micro gearmotors for the drive. It’s all connected to a Spektrum AR6100 (with a DX-5e controller), and a Common Sense RC 800mAH 2S lipo.
Jamo, I tried different model receiver chips, but the same model esc. I can spin up the drum though, and it just spins and spins at a constant speed, then it will still die. I can not even try and drive around, and just sit there and spin and it will still die.
I can probably make this battery fit, but it's 12g heavier and I've been killing myself trying to make weight already! That is, if the battery proves to be the problem...
My dad's bot used a lot of the same components as mine (everything except the drive motors and the battery) and he had NO PROBLEMS! His battery is a 20C 430 mAh E-flite battery which I tried in mine...
