| magmotors are really powerful, and it's hard to beat one in terms of start-up torque (seeing as brushless motors usually don't have the same amounts of startup torque that brushed motors do...) but they're not like outrunners where you can bolt to the can. The wires are going to spin with the back of the motor when you hold the shaft fixed, and that's the biggest problem I see. They just don't make slip-rings with a high enough current capacity to spin at that speed. And if you did a fluid coupling... I can't imagine that being robust enough to handle the shock of battle.
All in all, I give it a thumbs up for ridiculawesomeness, but a thumbs down for feasability.

You might consider jumping on the brushless melty bandwagon..... Could be a fairly simple build

| I think this might have promise. . .if gyro doesn't get the best of you.
I would consider putting some sort of armor around all the stuff inside the beater, just in case it stops spinning for some reason.

| Machining has begun... So far the billet has been cut and the hole patterns were marked for the acrylic mounting members inside the beater. THat should be done by wednesday. I have an axi 4130 that i need to swap the factory shaft for a longer one, but i cant seem to get the set screws loose, I'm sort of stuck here because all my allen wrenches are just bending, does any one have any tips on getting stuborn screws out? I still need to make the following: -Weapon Pulleys -wheelguards -wheels hubs Here is another render(I got bored) | |

| Wouldn't you be much better off with Polycarbonate or Aluminum for the motor mounts? Acrylic does not like impacts at all. | |

| Probably... but i had the sheet just lying around my house
also it is the impact resistant type of acrylics or atleast thats what it said on the label/i was originally planning on having them lasercut but my friend who was going to do that for me backed out, so i figured just use what i have and if it breaks i will just switch it out for the polycarb

| um, first off squares are so much easier to machine
second The triangles stick out much farther in front of the beater. So it would be a nightmare trying to get a hit

| hate to break it to you but its gonna be a nightmare getting a hit like that, itll be a lucky shot on a wierd angle should a corner make its way into your beater | |

| I know but its less of a nightmare than the triangles. Plus this just a body to test the concept of everything in the beater, if it functions properly i will put the beater assembly into a modified version of the older body, I just didn't want to spend the money machining a nicer body for a weapon/drive system that may not work. | |

| Everything is done other than wheel guards, which will take a few weeks while we get the new mill setup
but tommorow will be spent wiring and assembling and filing/sanding anything that don't fit
