| not quite Fluffy on fire, but it was a pretty good show.... You might be able to see where the problem is/was.....I cut off the drum too close to the outmost dowel pin hole, so the wall thickness at that location was very thin...that is where the crack started. Then, after the drum cracked, I drilled and tapped to try and squeeze the crack closed. That didn't work and actually made things worse. The 7075 was stressed and the crack blew open before I could reach cake....lol the plan was to try to eject him again, with the other end of the drum....hahaha I do have a pretty stout alternative tho..... on a side note, inthe fight against the plastic wedge, Sting ended up on its side, and I forgot to install the rollover screws. I thought that just spinning the drum would cause the bot to vibrate and eventualy flip back down.....no such luck....the drum was too well balanced and the bot wouldn't budge even at over 25k rpm's | |

| Belt rides between the 2 inner blades...maybe a slight recess or lifted surface...depending on weight and ratio
If this one doesn't work then I'm gonna challenge fluffy to a dual to the death....maybe burn sting into charcoal...lol

im suprised you havent RJW and Jamo have really stepped up the class, both topping genes bots and there both so close to you! Gene's bots keep coming...one hit between Jamo and sting and both bots were reduced to pushers Plus ther's no ejection area at Moto...so it could get ugly. I'm sure that jamo will get his stuff together...it was Cake's maiden voyage Sting on the on the hand has a bad habit of ejecting or tashing bots while self-destructing itself... there will be total carnage at Moto...If the plastic and alu bots can trash Sting , SOT and the 12 pound clones, then I tip my hat to them...otherwise , we might all be in for the long haul and the plastic and chewy aluminum could be flowing in the streets..... I won't be driving any of the drums....tha twould be too easy. I will smash the Ti wedges into everything in the place as hard as I can as fast as I can and as much as I can. a Lot of full body spinner emulation...or whatever. If I can just hit something plastic or alu at full speed...we'll hopefully see why Ti costs more than alu and UHMD Or I'll just blow up, catch fire and bury them next to Fluffy

| does a curved tooth have any perfomance difference against a wedge compared to a flat tooth? Do you see any cons to have a curved tooth over a flat tooth? | |

Do you see any cons to have a curved tooth over a flat tooth? It seems like common sense and it also seemed evident in practice, that a sharper edge will bite more A square tooth has a 90 degree angle , while Jamo's is more acute.....I haven't measured what the actual rough angle is on his drum, but I suppose that I could, mind your it's a flat front edge and curved trailing edge, but we should be able to get a ballpark figure. On the downside, the more acute tooth will chip and/or break easier...the square tooth is blunt and strong. However, at GCRS, Jamo's drum kept biting away at other bots, even when he wasn't really under them...or so it seemed. To launch bots and for longevity, the squarish tooth is the way to go, but to get a bettter bite...I vote more acute. you need to get under them to launch them anyhow....just bring more blades or drums, cause they are going to wear more quickly. Make sense?

I figured alot of that but was just getting your oppinion, maybe you saw something i missed many years ago, I was hired by an architectural woodworking firm to solve a problem with hardwood handrails. The wood was chipping badly when fed thru a 5 spindle moulder. the machine manufacturer was trying to sell them $250k worth of new cutterheads with a hardwood angle built in...the existing heads were all 20 degrees or more and while great for softwoods, they weren't so good for rock maple...lol I solved their problem by first rebuilding a moulder knife profile sharpeneng machine and then by buying thicker tool steel in order to grind a front angle on the knives before grinding the profile. This changed the final cutting angle of attack and the hardwood came out perfect. My point is that while in most cases we are not trying to cut the opponent, just launch, in some situations, a cutting angle other than blunt and square might help get under an opponent. So tell me all you know...share...share...come on...

| i havent really studied the difference to much i guess you could say, curved/angled teeth are just cooler lol Both are really effective but i dont think i can actually say that fancy tooth is any better then a flat tooth, the only decent wedge we fought was Good Knight(ti wedge with s7 rails) both fights, one was 3 miniutes the other was a bit over three seconds, both tooth styles got a bite and each threw it pretty well. We dont have any flat toothed beaters so i couldnt tell you how those really compare. Time will tell?! | |
