Does anyone use any ESC's for 12-15 lb bots that are comparable or better than Banebots or Scorpions????

Price wise and dependability?

We have fried the BB's in the past and are looking for an alternative that is a little more reliable.....

The Scorpions are a little costly and the BB's get too hot and melt the soldering on the chips!

Any alternatives?

Our BBs got hot, but we never really burnt through them regularly. What kind of voltage where you putting through them, and what gear ratio and wheel size? You guys had very large wheels. If you where running a 16:1 then there is your problem

3 and 4 inch wheels for a 16-1 shouldnt be a problem but we were running 19V through them.
We went a little different with ratios this year 24:1
BB's jump from 24:1 to 64:1 this year????????
I was hoping to go 32-36:1 but cant get em!

We ONLY use Scorpion XXL's...best out there IMO

we use a single bb 12-45 for powered wedge at times., but it never sees all that much work.

If you want bunch of xxl's I can cut you a deal....

remember in any case that you need to derate the bec accordingly , especially at voltages over 5 cel liIons (16.8v) or 4 cel lipos

What do you mean by Derate? Eliminating from Weapon and running one from drive esc??

What price for 2 or 3 XL's not XX?

We have used 12-45's but 2 gave out on use last year... Our Scorpion XL never went bad in 2 years!

Would the XXL's cover enough amperage for the 15's??????

if you look at the specs on the bb's and scorpions, you might notice that as you up the voltage, that the bec gets de-rated...in other words it can only supply a very small amount of bec power...not enough for the br6000 (reliably) syptoms were intermittent loss of signal

We had bec problems when going to 5 cel lipos, while none with 5 cel LiIons. we had to use a stand alone bec on ttatt while using an xxl for drive and a bb 12-45 for weapon....Sting'em gets its bec from the mamba monster without problems

We only use the XXL's in our 15's....stall even on the 540 motors is somewhat high...we've been using bb 550's, aftermarket 550's and total insanity 550's....without problems with xxl's

we'd rather burn out a $5 or $10 motor than a $100 xll...does this make sense...mind you , we run fast, push hard and still have only smoked 1 or 2 bb 550's with xxl's mind you.

pm me and I'll see what I can do on the pricing

also, I've mentioned this elsewhere, but with a dx6i radio and a reversing weapon, between the xl and some mixing, 1 swich can be used to reverse EVERYTHING on an invertable bot.....

Makes it a lot easier on the drivers......baaaaaah....rookies all of them... affraid
Thanks

Richard
