So today i took a broken Eggbeater up to 25,000rpm..

And other than the ENORMOUS amp draw. Redemptions beater was very balanced...

Seems like that crack improved the beater. Gave it a stress relief point. It got us through a entire day of grudge matches, and a big Rumble full of big hits.

Watching it, and hearing it. It would be the LAST thing i would want to fight. Wish i could get it up to that speed and not melt the bot...


So do the math. 5.125 diameter S7 beater. Hardened to 54RC. Weighs about 4.7 pounds. Spinning at 25,000rpm.. 400mph tip speed... KE = SHAMWOOOW!


Think it will hold up with that crack in it if i am spinning at a tame 8,000rpm? With lots of hits?

Hmm... I don't see any reason why it shouldn't continue working fine for a little while, but I can definitely tell you you're going to have a ton of wear from torsion where the outer section of the beater meets that center joint as well as where it meets the outside edge of the material (leading up to either another crack, or the steel bending out of shape). I'm going with "replace as soon as possible."

I know it needs replaced, but I want to try to have Redemption win nationals with a cracked weapon. For lulz. Curious as to what others think it will do...

You could have it welded thats what we did with Still'n Shocks weapons

if you weld it i'd only go for a tack on either side

youll make it more brittle in that spot then it already is

Either way its only a matter of time till something breaks

Running it the way it is might work out the way it is but who knows what itll do to the rest of the bot
