There's a solution to that, too: running into a wall with the drum at full speed.

we got stuck with a 1-direction drum last year, but that was one of the modifications made this year - to use a drum that could reverse directions - AKA a thor 883. I just can't switch from forwards to backwards using only the motor... I have to hit something to bring the drum down to a stop first then reverse the direction. otherwise, can you say STALLLL?

we dont use reversible drums because of the weight of the ESCs and our designs arent the best for driving upside down haha

With the drum/beater up that high, and inverted, couldn't atacking while spinning the wrong way luanch you and possibly put you back to right side up?

Humdinger and probably your new eggbeater right themselves using the wall, but with drums, it seems logical to attack the oponent if the wall is not an option..i.e shockwave or aftershock???

Are you guys that close on weight that a 2 oz. esc would matter?

I thought we were the only ones that weighed 14.9999999 lbs....lol

We can hit walls and self right with the drums now
We actually have plenty of extra weight but its actually more of the size of the mambas and such that kills us

The pictures ive posted are the only ones i have, extra room means extra weight
With our designs its not the best to reverse the drum any way and the bots dont drive all that well, its easier to self right them
We actually havent tried driveing SnS upside with the beater spinning, it might actually be able to gyro back over who knows

last year, they didn't seem able to self right...needed another hit or 2 from opponents and hope for a flip???

I always wonder why so many just sit and wait for an opponent to self right???

Why no go in for the kill??

Well, if it turns out the other robot can't self right, they haven't accidentally helped their opponent out of being immobilized. Also, they can line up just right to knock them back upside down the instant the other self rights.

Well ours sorta kinda could, it really came down to luck, but now they can
Last year when we fought Uknight we would kill our drums when he was flipped cause he couldnt self right either off a wall. He cant do anything and your clearly gonna beat an upside down bot in a pushing match
Its all about strategy, and sometimes the kill isnt necessary.

I was referring to bots like humdinger or with lifters that can self right (in heavy classes)...a lot of video shows bots just hanging around waiting.

Sorry for the confusion....

What I am saying is that I understand that if your opponent is inverted and is helpless or less effective, then leave him inverted.

What I have seen is some people letting a bot that CAN self-right go through the process of self-righting, instead of continuing to attack while he is inverted.

Still confused? lol no biggie

We were like 14.95 lbs

And Copperhead was 119.9 lbs....

Half of our work on both projects has been weight reduction... Have you seen the whole patterns and other reductions done on everything? Painful.

BTW, Dan, what was our final weight with Copperhead? We got some breathing room? Or are we going to be frantically drilling holes in things?

i think we'll be drilling a few holes... but I'm really banking on what THEIR scale says. Once I see that then I'll know how much more we need to do.

Ok. But we have some definitely have some areas that weight can be taken out of right?

CuddleBunny weighs 13 lbs Sad . That is bad. It has a vacuum to make it weigh more...2 lbs might make a big difference believe it or not.
