| Make sure you disable that Over volt setting. We had a similar problem. Its some useless safety thingy in the castles.
Also we did about 20 degrees for our outrunner but a inrunner should be around 10-15 like you found out.

| check out their website and those new onsite programming cards...
They are pretty self explanatory with what settings to change with soft and hard starts and all of the settings.

| Have you tried the usual brushless debug techniques? (aka rotating all the wires by one position?) | |

| Hey, what was that? Rotate all wires by one? Never heard of that! In your experience, what does that do?
As far as Castlelink is concerned, just click the little question-mark icons next to the settings, and you will get a pretty good idea what the different settings mean and how they work. It's worth the time to really read about each and every possible setting, and get a feel for the effect of each.
The behavior you have described sounds like the 'soft overcurrent/undervoltage' settings--if the current exceeds your settings, or the battery pack drops below a set voltage (due to internal resistance and, well, excessive current), the ESC will throttle back and 'seek' a safe setting, even if you are sending it signals for a much higher speed.
This is actually better than either alternative a) no limiting at all, and so something (motor, ESC, or battery) blows b) "hard" limiting, where it shuts the motor down and wont restart until it receives a zero speed signal for something like 3 seconds.
Then again, I aint no expert.

| We have used the 80amp ESC from Castle for a number of years now. We have not had all that much luch programing from the Link, but it has been hit or miss. We usually do it manually by tone.
The settings that have worked best for use have been:
Voltage cutoff AutoLipo
Current setting: Disable
Break type: Disable
Throttle Type: Fixed Throttle
Electronic Timing Advance: Standard... or you can save current by going with Low Advance
Low Voltage cutoff type: Soft cut off
Soft Start: Fast Start
PWM switching: 13khz
Thats all she wrote....My guess would be you are using a hard cutoff and soft start. Also sometihng to check would be th econdition of your Lithium cells. If they can't drop 70-100 amps for a few seconds, your going to have the ESC cut off due to the voltage drop.
We had issues with our first brushless settings and first type of lithium cells we tried to use. If you look back at the 2006 and 2007 videos, you can see we had a hard time getting our large diameter weapons started. That was all fixed 2 years ago. they spin up like champs now... 0- 15000RPM in less than 3 seconds.
