Is it worth designing a multi bot or sticking with one bot?

well i think that its not worth it
1 would probably have enough weight for 1 bot to have a weapon and the other a wedge
2 even though u would have 2 bots if the heavier one becomes immobile or gets KO ed thats the match
(thats how it was at the nationals)

Its tough finding small light parts that can stand up to a 15lb bot. It can be done and can be effective but its hard
Building a weaponed multibot is even harder because you have less weight but the other bots still weighs the same haha
Like don said the rule says when half of the weight is dead you KO'd so as long as your heavier half is still going your ok

What exactly are the roles for multi bots in bots iq swpa
i know only two drivers are allowed

however
does one bot have to be heavier than the other
Does the 28 volt of power rule apply to both bots where each combined can only have 28 volts
or can each bot have 28 volts

I think it would be really expensive to make good multi bots, but I love the idea.
If you use have enough thin titanium you could use it for structure and armor or maybe use plastic and armor it up.
One lighter wedgebot and a heavier disc spinner would be the way I would go.
You might have to sacrifice things on the bots that a full robot would have like maybe all around armor in order to have an effective wedge or weapon that would compare to a full bot.
Look at how much pushing power some of the little sumo bots have. Use a sumo wedgebot to get under and the weapon bot to deliver a fatal blow.

Your weapon has to be strong enough to still hit 15lbs

Okay. Let's see. Two pound weapon. Driven by a 1 pound motor. That's half the weight. Drive Motors batteries and fram and I don't see how your making 7.5lbs

I really hope your not taking me seriously...

That was interesting, they really manhandled the larger bot until they broke. Was it just me or did that thing have a flamethrower?

What's the name of that bigger bot? Very well done.

And back on topic--I have not given up on vacuum assisted pushbots, and I think a really lightweight (5lbs or less) one could still push a bigger bot around really well. Then you have 10lbs for the weaponed one.

Just an idea.

At Robogames, multi-bots took 1st in the 60lb class(Two 30 lb wedges posted earlier) and 3rd in the 30lb class(Our 15 lb drum and a 15 lb pushy bot). Death and taxes in the 220s also did relatively well but I don't remember their record. Also, I just like excuses to link this video of them from Combots V last year:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XN63ngmVQk

With current battery and motor options, you really only need about %30 of the weight to make a decent wedge.

The P60's aren't really the secret (although their toughness is important) it's the 555's. I was doing some analysis of the specs the other day, and the 555's are just SO much better than anything (brushed) smaller than a 775. I am in the process of looking at a design that's gonna push the limits on what can fit under 15lbs. and I simply can't convince myself that any other motor is gonna satisfy.

But for a multibot, they make for an awesome wedge.

A combo like Death & Taxes may work well. In that case for a 15# robot, you'd have a beetleweight and a hobbyweight making up the pair.
