PostSubject: Thin titanium fbs shell tooth shear questions    Fri May 06, 2011 1:22 pm

I have just bought two titanium shells for my antweight fbs. They are really thin like 1mm so my

question is without destroying it by pulling the teeth out on hits, would it be better to use one 1/4 bolt per

tooth or to use like 5 m3's with washers it's size is 7.5" diameter and .75" tall and the teeth will weigh about

half an ounce each and if it means anything i will be spinning it at around 7500k teeth will be .75" long by

1" heat treated steel angle

any suggestions welcome good or bad Very Happy

stay away from number 3 metric screw, i have had nothing but trouble with them, your best bet is probably to get a grade 8 machine screw- like 6-32 or 8-32 and use how ever many fit, the more screws means the same force applied over more bodies, which in turn lightens the overall strain on an individual screw

i have a similar question...should i use pieces of aluminum or washers to help spread the weight of a two-piece frame? i'm assuming most of the force of the impact from hits will transfer to one of the 6 spots i'm pointing at, or to the top of those pieces. what should i do here?

here is a pic of it,

also! just finished downloading autodesk 3DS max. best manmade tool EVER. Very Happy

im no artist either but.... i suggest using the squares on that graph paper as a scale reference wether it be 1/4" scale or 1/8" it helps alot when drafting and if you would like i can show you how to do 3d on paper using a vantage point and scale vector.

otherwise if you have the space washers helped me disperse the load of small m3's or use another piece of garolite as a washer if you choose to use that material

really you should be ok with either or but washers might be easier to manipulate because when you get into one piece assemblies you tend to have to have everything lined up exactly, with washers you have some flexibility with alignment
