Clairton is looking to make a full girls team next year (this year, it was a 15 lb asymmetrical beater, Omnomnomagon, completely designed and built by girls, with one of the guys driving) ... Any thoughts?

Thanks c: these are mostly things that I've already put into consideration after yesterday.... Those drive motors were quite depressing, though I only found out after the competition that the way we were told to assemble them.. Was not exactly the correct way... However, next year, I certainly intend to see vast improvement... Reinvent the wheel I suppose. With luck, Omnom's Revenge will go ham.

We fixed the gearboxes.
Just watch the fight against black mamba. Drove fine the whole match.

Easy. We put them together in their intended design.

We fixed them sloppily, but they held.
They didn't have an issue at first, what ruined them was that the first day a motor came lose and Eliza took the whole gearbox off, went to put it back on and the holes didn't line up, getting the screws in with the unaligned holes ruined everything.
Re-tapping and using bigger bolts did nothing because the hole still did not line up, the threads stripped so fast we didn't know they stripped so fast.

Never mount the motor with the bolts that hold the motor together.
It worked on Mini Nuke because the gearbox was completely flush against the back and the frame was CnC'd so the holes lined up and when we put the screws in the threads did not strip.

We merely held the motors together as they should be, then bolted the together gearbox on with the appropriate mounting holes, though only 2 bolts on one side and 1 on the other because again, Beard did not line it up right when he did it.

If we actually mount the gearboxes that right way and then use at least 2 of the bolts further down the gearbox by the motor on the back plate or bottom plate there will be no issue.

Also note that we encountered no errors with the P-60 gearboxes. Only the Wang, shorter ones.

work well when you never take them apart

Clearly the answer is to not let someone who has already tampered with and messed up a part to continue taking it apart without being watched like a hawk until they know what they are doing. -sagenod-

Did you guys attend the NRL nationals this year? I believe there was an all girls team present. I think their robot was called "Strawberry Shortcake"?
