Got a VEX team that's trying out a holonomic drive (not our video), and I gotta say it's pretty darn cool!! I am not sure what sort of bot (i.e. weapon type) it would work best with, but it seems like a very cool way to move a shell spinner. Only problem I can see is that the 'omni' wheels seem too fragile for combat.

Omni wheels are pretty nice to use , but do have issues such as omni and mecanum wheels are rather pricey, to work fully need a separate motor to drive each wheel, and also lack traction compared to conventional wheels. It has been done before though in battlebots
Also if you do want to use them for battlebots, from what I've seen the AndyMark omni and mecanum wheels are much more durable than VEX.

The Revenant used them back in the day (shell spinner).
