MultiBots???

So last year we took our two robots to the nrl nationals (2012) and came out around 7th and 9th. this year we are looking at Multibots. Has anyone ever heard of them being used?

stupidest idea ever, but very funny to fight with.

you're just not very competitive at 1/2 the weight of your opponent.

it's fun but don't expect to win.

Did you go with a weaker drive system to cut weight? It seems almost as you had no power but too much speed.We keept the same drive systems as before(just brand new) and our 2 bots seem to be pushing 100lb boxes around quite simply

We practice driving with a Rubbermaid tube with 100lbs of scrap in it. Yes they only have a pushing force of 15lbs with no load but the weight of the box adds the the downward force of the bot causing it to be able to move it with ease.

One of our vac bots, with no additional downforce, moved a 40lb vice. I think there's a video of this somewhere??
With a vac, 540 motors, p60 20:1, 2inch Colsons.

My school toke the two bots ACE and ATOM the diamond plate wedges. Our teams were the ones who had the problems with the batteries.

That was ATOM he tapped out after having his blade ripped off, they both ended up to be tough little bots though.

We are honesty really thinking of going with these Multibot team. We also are looking for a 30lb competition that we can take ACE and NORM to as a multibot team

Multibots can be a lot of fun, but they need to be extremely tough to take the abuse from robots twice their weight. We took 2nd twice with two 15s as a 30, at the 2011 Robogames and the Combots Cup 7. That being said RFL rules are friendlier to multibots than NRL or NERC rules (60% vs 50% of weight KOd to register a complete KO). The competitions running 30s now are the NERC which runs two competitions per year, and Combots, which has only run 30s at the Cup the past few years, and may stop all together.
