I'm looking for a bushless drive ESC. We've experimented with several different ESCs but they all have a break when switching from forward to reverse. If anyone knows of a breakless ESC, it'd be much appreciated.

This week we got our ESC's in. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__28375__Hobbyking_X_Car_60A_Brushless_Car_ESC_sensored_sensorless_.html

We tested them on these brushless motors.

after some programming from the hobbywing programming software, the motors where up and running with a very slight break. Although no break would be ideal the slight break shouldn't affect drive, hopefully. I'll add another update once we get the electronics in the bot.

We finally got a test run in with the completed brushless system. Unfortunately we didn't have any banebots pinion gears so tried using a hobbyking version. Unfortunately it wasn't the right pitch and left a lot of slop in the gearboxes resulting in a loud, high pitched whine while running the bot. The bot was still driveable, and so we tried the test we're all been waiting for a brush vs brushless push off. The brushless had alot of power, and seemed to have better reaction speed than the brushed system. The brushless system was slower than expected and still lost some push offs vs the brushed system. Overall we concluded a different, lower KV motor, would have been a better choice. Heres some specs on the brushed set up.

you can get rid of the brake from programming it with the programming card I believe it gives you an option for no brake

also I would recommend this motor its much stronger:http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__27867__Turnigy_Trackstar_1_10_17_0T_2400KV_Brushless.html

Also if you keep using the wrong pinion it will strip in no time so you should probably take a pinion off of an old motor if you have any

Thanks for the reply Don. We've ordered several fresh pinions, that should be the correct size, from bainbots today. Often times when we remove a old pinion from a motor it won't press on tight enough to the new motor. I'd like to find a pinon with a setscrew, but haven't found any with the correct pitch yet.
