| I don't know if I can reliably keep the teeth on Sting's drum and make weight, so I am thinking of converting over to a single blade beater.
I forsee future battles against horizontal spinners, etc and am leaning towards the beater setup, in that I can see the alu drum going south or the teeth coming off, once the going gets reaaly rough..which I'm sure it will.
What do you think?

Might end up with both....lol I thought that you were big into the sns beater thingie???? One big factor is...if weight is equal, which will draw more amps??? I'm using a tiny little castle motor...not meant to beat, just spin to the moon and let things fly. Even with some extreme mods, the motor setup is fragile at best.....

| eggbeater has more air drag.. so it would take more amperage.. | |

Maybe some aerodynamics ...to bring that down??? From the sound of Sting's and TTATT's drums. they seem to be pushing a lot of air???

there's less wight with the egg beaterso air resistence shouldn't matter and i like beaters more if u make them right

| Eggbeaters are "meh" on aerodynamics. If you can fillet/round off and non contact edges, you improve the airflow greatly. Those sharp corners are just perfect for creating bad turbulence. Albeit a very small one, but the faster you go the more fierce it gets.
At lower speeds of around 5-8k rpm its negligible, but once you hit 15k and up you are asking for very bad gyro, and extra amp draw. Its not much, but at those speeds it can grow exponentially.

| A thought: would winglets or winglet-like extrusions work on a beater? | |

| Where would this said "winglets" go?
Care to make a crude paint drawing?
