So, Fluffy is mostly built and is going through the weight loss program and belt fitting. Work on Snuggles has commenced and is expected to be complete by Youth Fair. The Woodynator 2 is in the works and is moving along smoothly. Revolution 2 is essentially done. They've decided to make new bearing blocks. Timothy Higgins and Bearkin are being worked on. We'll see about them. CuddleBunny needs some serious effort put into it. It should be done by Youth Fair. All can be done by Youth Fair, but we all know how that goes. The CNC is working beautifully and Sean Groeninger is the man with a plan with that machine! More to come soon..

CuddleBunny is not gonna be done by Youth Fair for sure. There is no way. There are no more jigsaw blades...i havent even made the outside of my robot...i dont have the secret weapon yet...and nothing...ABSOLUTELY NOTHING...has been done.

It is very hard to make a robot by myself. I started out with 6 people on my team...and now I have 1. It was me, cruz, sussmane, win, alice, alex, schimmel. Now it is just me. I can't do this by myself. I have only been building robots for a year and 3/4...

I need a team. A team that won't just quit or move to a different robot.

I could've sworn DuBard solved this by forcing the team members to pay the entrance fees themselves... Did that ever get implemented? (Also, as Chief Engineer, Dughi can kill any project he thinks will fail utterly.)

Unfortunately, I don't think any projects are going to fail utterly. The only one that might is Sean Rubin cuz he's not there a lot, but I don't think it's going to UTTERLY fail, it could be pretty decent, provided that he gets it done.

Well, then it falls to Schimmel to get their @$$es straightened out - he's supposed to handle the people side of the equation.

Well, it's not my fault he got the President spot. This is why it's important to keep going to robotics (even after competition) at least until the election/appointment discussion is completed.

The problem is that he's the only senior and I was ineligible cuz I didn't do the leadership conference thing cuz i had a family conflict that day, this year, it's during the BotsIQ competition.

You do know that age level isn't supposed to give you weight toward the position? It's written into the team's charter. Not much you can do about it now, but keep that in mind from this point on. (Besides, how do you think I became President as a Junior?)

I didn't know you were president as a junior. You know how Schimmel is though, if we hadn't given him the position he'd probably have thrown a fit or something figuring that it's his "right as the only senior member."

Under the Team Organization thread is the entire charter. Merry Xmas.

Yeah, I got the President position in my junior year b/c I was there practically every day working - also, I did a good enough job as Secretary that we never had to turn in minutes again after that year. Also, some slight Machiavellian tendencies helped king. Part of why your position exists was to appease (and give a more appropriate position) to the guy who was VP from the year before, Matt Neber. Since I had proven I could handle the more executive side of things and he was an engineering super-genius, I did away with the VP position and just made the Chief Engineer spot. Another thing I did was kill the age seniority thing for good, since I was clear proof that it didn't always turn out that way.

EDIT:

If you didn't know before, I also was allowed to re-write the charter my junior year, and all the team members that year agreed to keep that version as the official charter from that point on.

I meant that literally. 2004-2005 was the last year that RE Robotics ever had to turn in minutes, ever.

And by minutes I mean essentially sheets of paper turned in once every week that give the rough details of who was there for the meeting, what happened, how long we took to do it, and what we planned to do next.

Oh, whoever the faculty member is that you need to go to to make new clubs is the same person existing clubs turn their minutes in to. I forget the specific name for their position - club adviser?

So we don't have to do that? Awesome. How about Activities Council Meetings? What are those like, what do you do in them?

Oh yeah, 200 btw.

Me? Since RE Robotics was actually only a quasi-club at that point, and it's now something different altogether (it doesn't fall under the club category at all anymore [thanks to the school administration {I think?}]) I'm not sure what things are like right now. Mostly since I didn't need to handle any minutes, I just showed up and sat around until the meeting finished (attendance to Activities Council meetings by an officer was still required of us).

the only officer that can/is required to attend is the president of the club I thought. So the president position doesn't really have anything to do with engineering type things?

Not really. The President can also be one of the sub-captains and build a robot, but mostly they're the more people-y side of the officer positions. That doesn't mean they do absolutely nothing as far as the robots go, since they're supposed to help train the sub-captains. Remember my senior year? I didn't really build any one robot that much, but I did give you Freshmen quite a few pointers. The Chief Engineer does the heavy lifting as far as making sure someone isn't doing something horrendously stupid and wasting time/$$$, and as such can tell people to make alterations to their design - or tell them that they aren't allowed to make their robot, if it's bad enough.

I almost want to let somebody else be president then, but I know that there aren't many people in robotics responsible enough to actually do shit that the president is supposed to do, as a matter of fact, I can't really think of 1 person who will.

Well, picking a decent President is pretty simple. Who is there ALL THE F*ING TIME, knows enough to help for most day-to-day things but can find someone who knows how to help if they don't, and isn't averse to working on all the robots simultaneously?

EDIT: If no one quite fits that, pick the more people-y engineering person as president, and the less people-y engineering person as chief engineer.
