| 12-27-09 G-box mods are kind of done for SOT we will be experimenting with NOT using any screws between the face of the motors and the boxes. g=boxes are tie-rodded. loosening 1 clamp allows fast removal of the motor....I guess that we'll find out if they stay attached in battle.... | |

Gboxes are looking good.....motors are rock solid
need to do some secondary ops on the new inner frame rails and slap the little bots together to see what they weigh. that's when the fun begins again....

| 12-29-09 afternoon we are officially entered in moto..the paperwork and payment have been received. Sting weighed in at 16 grams over....so a couple of lightening mods to the g boxes and wheels are in order.....once again, it'll probably come in right at 3 pounds....lol SOT's weight is yet to be determined..hopefuly it'll have some weight to spare, for the secret weapon! More later...... | |

| They are not real stickers for actual weight....
You can probably get away with 12 lb 5 oz and still clear for battle...

Frisco Personally I don't agree with that.....12 should be 12 and no more Our 3's always weigh within a few grams (under)..we go thru a lot of trouble to get there Otherwise, I should just bring the 15's as is and not bother to build 12's??? no biggie, but 5 oz can make a big difference

| I agree, We busted our butts getting them down to 12 last year (about 2 weeks worth of figuring out how to take the weight off) then when we get there the scale did not read to ounces...We were pissed. It read 12 or 12.5...
One of our bots was not at weight when we got there so they were working in the pits shaving weight. I told them they could go but I never thought they would make weight to battle but they did.
They are really laid back as far as comparing to Bots IQ so just go with the flow..
I personally like the fact that they would rather have a robot battle than DQ them..
For instance, you can enter the ring and if there is a problem before the bout begins, you can ask for a delay and they will give it to you.... Only one though and they do put some kind of time limit on it (5 min????) Usually they ran a match then you were up again.
They would rather see the fight than a DQ.. Like I said they are laid back a little.
Good people! | |

| Thanks for the heads up!!
I don't like dq's either...I think that they ought to let them fight if they're close, but if absurdly over weight, then let them fight but not allow a 1 pound over weight bot to be declared winner...
No one wants to see a bot dq'd.....I wish they would just make the weight clasee 15 lbs. or the IQ class 12, so the edu crowd could compete in both.
So the 12 pound vapor fun begins ...along with a few drums for Sting.

| I totally agree with the weight situation!
I think they would see double the numbers in the hobby weight if they would run the same!
