ungluing magnets from can motor Empty
PostSubject: ungluing magnets from can motor   ungluing magnets from can motor I_icon_minitimeTue Jan 19, 2010 3:33 pm

We have a few small brushed can motors that are rebuildable.

Some of them have 1 of the 2 magnets cracked or broken and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on how to unglue them???

I was thinking heating them in a oven until the glue gets soft?

Also, what to glue them in with? epoxy? super glue?

Thanks

Richard

i dont see why doing that or maybe even heating with a heat gun wouldnt work. Something about running an open flame over them just doesnt seem like the best idea to me lol
I think i remember hearing epoxy works great.

I just heated them in the oven and they popped right out

the spring clips hold them in pretty well...but I added a bit of super glue...we'll see if that holds.

Otherwise, I need to make a little jig to hold and nglue them right where they need to be and once set, install the spring retainers

I just saved 3 little motors..I think????? affraid

Thanks.....it's not as critical as magnets in an outrunner weapon application...I hope...
