| Um so this is a bot that we haven't really had too many problems with, the design has been used a couple years now similar to tornado mini but with blender style teeth. Unfortunatly there have always been weak points in the design and they always broke at competition, this year we wanna build it like a brick. and so far that idea seems to be working very well. right now we are coming to a point where the shell can be attached to the bot. But we left the space to go with a variety of bushing bearing options. I personally prefer bushings over bearings in my bots because they are just alot stronger, but i understand that they take longer to spin up. My options are:
1. Bushing/Bearing in shell, shell would spin on dead shaft(Medium strength but fast risk of shell being pulled of similar to fluffy vs. deathinator match)
2. Bushing/ bearinge in the top plate of the robot inside the shell, shell would spin with a live shaft(Very strong but spin up time would suffer Risk of coming in contact with other robot b4 getting up to speed)
3. Bearing/ bushing in both top plate and shell. (Very weak BUT extremely fast.)
So the question is which option should i go with, and whether or it should be with a bushing or a bearing?

| Do you have a drawing of the arrangement?
Tough to call without seeing the layout and knowing some approx. sizes

| OHHHHHHHHHHHH That is very pretty. Do you have any specs on it? Spin up speed or top speed of the past? Judging by the rendering, if you defined materials, your shell looks to be aluminum. Maybe 1-1.5 inches tall. Am I right? | |

| Drive MOtors: 4 banebots 28mm gearmotors
Weapon Motors: 2 axigold 2826/12's
shell height is actually 2'' but very close.
This is a rendering of last years model. I didn't completly agree with it because as you mentioned it was aluminum. So this year i changed it. By taking the diameter from the 14'' in the rendering you see and taking it to 12'' I was able to make it out of steel.
Senai, last years model looked exactly like tornado mini in every aspect except for the teeth/blades. I actually asked the kid in charge of it last year if he knew you. He said he didn't(I'm still skeptical). He had a lot of trouble making the shell because he was bending a strip of 3/8'' aluminum to make the ring and he cut the top piece out of a plate of 3/16'' aluminum, laid one on top of the other, and welded. The thing was nowhere close to a perfect balanced circle.
I decided to make the new one in a much easier manner. but a 2'' section of 12'' diameter 1/4''thick wall round steel tubing. cut the top plate to the inner diameter of the tube, dropped it in and welded, looks great but its so heavy. This year is going to be very tight on weight, compared to the 2 punds under of last years

| Design back ON, kid who was going to build the drum quit, and so the freshman are being given a shot at finishing this for MOTOrama
The shell and inner frame are done they just need to do is:
-Make motor mounts
-Make wheel hubs
-Make Weapon Mount
-Wire it all up | |

| ANONYMOUS WORKS!!!!!!
Anonymous showed full functionality today, we didn't test it with the weapon on(because we are afraid of how it will react)
it weighs in at a shocking 13.5 lbs with all components
only problem is that the shell seems to have warped a little and isn't spinning to balanced when spun by hand
but none the less IT WORKS!!!

| ANONYMOUS RULEZZZ!!!!! we spun it up today and it was freaking scary, spins up quick and hits HARD
the drive is suprisingly good that it translates well in spite of the vibrations
Does MOTO have a spin down time rule? because we turn the motor off and it just keeps going until we hit something

| I got some new surface mount LED strips from Oznium.com and put them on anonymous today to see where we were going.
They are really bright at 10 VDC and were extremely simple, I highly reccomend them.
Anonymous has been loctited and is in ready to fight condition.... The drive is being a little sticky but hope fully it will be ok
We have High hopes for saturday
