| I kind of re-made this thread as a sticky... so it stays near the top of the page, and looks different.. i hope. For everyone who has already introduced themselves, you don't need to. For everyone else, please do. | |

| It might be a good idea to copy the content of the first Introduce Yourself thread to here. Mod can delete this once it's read. Re-introducing myself: - I wrote:
- I'm Jeff, and I was President of the Ransom Everglades Robotics & Engineering Team from fall '05 to spring '07, and was a member from fall '03 to spring '07. I worked on two 15lb robots there, X-Contamination and Coriolis. My role on X-Contamination was to design the prototype weapon and hardware layout (push everything together as close as possible), as well as assembly and later on, some of the upgrades. My role on Coriolis was the total design of a new, low-cost robot; may I never speak of it again... .
I also served as one of the 'idea guys' on the team, and as such helped flesh out some of the other robots' designs.
I am currently enrolled at Georgia Tech, and will graduate with a degree in Mechanical Engineering around the year 2011 or 2012.

| Hello all, my name is Tyler and I hail from the RE Robotics team of Miami. I attend Ransom Everglades High, and will *hopefully* graduate in 2011!
I've been working on 15 lb-ers for BBIQ with Will Bales (Close friend) since the 5th grade, and normally fulfill the role of chief machinist, giant weapons design guy, and overall engineer, or some combination of the three. I intern over summers with Syntheon, a BioMed R&D company, which has also given me a load of engineering experience.
I often serve as the ideas guy, or just help solve irksome design problems. I have a love for all things large and spinning, and often drink too much coffee.
At the moment I don't know what else to say, but I will answer any questions asked ;D

| Hi, my name is Marc DeVidts. It was good to meet all of you who came down from Pine View to Miami this weekend. Thanks for making this forum, it looks like it is gathering a good amount of people. Also, thanks for adding the link to the Builders Database.
I've been involved with IQ since it started in 2002, competing in IQ 1 through 5 and now I help run the events. You might have seen my robot Icewave at a couple of events. I am also building a new Heavyweight robot called Vault for the "Pro" class in April with a couple friends here in Miami.
Another great resource that many IQ teams don't know about is the RFL Forum: http://forums.delphiforums.com/therfl. I'll try to check back here regularly to join in the discussion! Thanks.

| teamjag posted an introduction in a little thread all by himself, so I'll just add him back here where the post belongs... "My name is Mr. K and I am the Instructor/Coach for "Team Jag" at Miami Lakes Educational Center. We have been in existence since January of 2008. We have built 3-15lbers, Thump, Rattler and Rattler 2. We have been fighting since last spring. Our inaugural fight was at the Miami Dade County Youth Fair in the spring of'08 "Thump" (6th place). Thump is retired as of now and serves as a driving trainer bot. At BotsIQ last year, we had 6 victories between two bots, 4 Rattler2 and 2 with Rattler. We placed 6th (Rattler 2) and 12th with Rattler. In 2009 we won (Rattler2) and placed 3rd (Rattler) at the Miami Dade County Youth Fair . Unfortunately we will not be going to BobtIQ this year. Crying or Very sad I would like to help make fighting robots grow in this region of the country." | |

| My name is Nola Garcia. I have been a BattleBot builder and involved in robotics since 1995.
Marc and others are building their robots at StarBot and they are very scary!! We all have to clear out of the way when they use only a small portion of their power. We make them go outside the gates. you all are in for a real
First of all - thanks Dan for running this - it was great having you at our home along with the rest of the Pineview team - you all are wonderful -both as house guests and as competitors. I am excited that you all are going to be in San Francisco. If the Dade County Youth Fair Event or the Rumble at the Rock event is any indication of the battles that will happen in SF we are in for a real treat! It is sad that Rattler will not be able to make it to SF - they are a great team we will miss them!
The SF BattleBots event looks like it will be amazing - so many of the original BB builders are scheduled to be there - either competing or as judges -a little bird told me that Grant Imahara is trying to get there for Saturday. The schedule is due to go up tomorrow - it is jammed with events - the high schools, colleges and the pros will be competing back to back! There is also an event scheduled to happen September 19th at the Miami Museum of Science for 15 pounders and possible task robots.
The engineering communities in South Florida and all over Florida are all stepping up to the plate to help sponsor some more events. All teams will be welcome - no one will be left out. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in San Francisco - it is going to be awesome!!
