| Ha, not eight cells.
We figured out that a 5S 2650mAh 45C (continuous) LiPo would power just about anything in the 15lb class for 2 minutes.
A little secret--we still aren't sure if we are gonna successfully shape that ChroMoly armor yet!! Would be funny to have a 'naked' fluffy fighting.

| lol ya 2 switches! drum is still aluminum with S7 teeth. Roller bearings instead of bushings, and after a lot of time, effort, care, patience (and a lot of luck), it's perfect. it just keeps spinning round and round | |

| Roller bearings aren't the way to go. Bushings will not let you down. Roller bearings can fail with extreme shock loads... but they are much better than ball bearings. We have seen bearings fail and it's not friendly, usually the hardened case cracks and the rollers are sent all over the arena usually followed by the weapon.
We have never had a bushing fail, distort shape, but not fail.
Good luck this week! I want to see active weapons win!

| Crazy ChroMoly armor got bent to shape today!! Will says that he thinks we can harden it---I dunno, but he usually comes through on things.
I have the same concerns about the bearings (vs bushings). This year we have three robots with massive spinning weapons, and all use bearings. I'm beginning to wonder if picking up some back up bushings wouldn't be prudent.
I am perpetually amazed at how much everything depends on good research and good design--even down to how challenging it is to machine a piece (or read the darn drawing!!)

| Um, we (uta, utd, and rhs) have always used roller bearings and have never had any fail on us. And you can check the videos for yourself but they undergo quite a lot of load so I'm not sure what you're talking about when you say they break or crack.
Anyway, Good Luck guys.
