| Sting has been retired for a bit..my brushed motors were strong, but also not very reliable....
so...in continuing to try and use all my razors. I made some mods and NOW...Sting has a brushless drivetrain and....
3 Mamba Micro Pro escs !!!!!!
The motors are small, but might do the job...we'll see
Looks like I'll have to take this one to GCRS as well | |

| 3 brushlees controllers and motors in very tight quarters = total rfi overload...I need some serious shielding here. When I turn on the bot, the drum wants to turn slowly. When I spin the drum, it goes the wrong way for a while and then stops and spins in the right direction. When Itry to move, the right side engages and the left side stutters, unles I go wot from the getgo.... Sting took a few steps back, but once ithe gremlins are ejected, it should be a much better mouse trap!! | |

| micro pros as in 3 in total (including the weapon). They are pricey and overkill for the drivtrain...they don't even get warm after running wot, back and forth for 3 to 5 minutes. I also managed to get over 80% of top speed, without any mixing...which leaves a bit of overhead for turning at wot. This allows me to use the mixes for inverted ops...so maybe no more driving out the arena door with Sting...lol The BIG news is that I am working on converting the cheapo airplane/heli escs to reversing. If this works out, we can have reversing escs for as little as $10 !!!! I need help with assembly language, otherwise I'm on my own... (been there and done that already) On a side note, I had to also change out my weapon esc. At gcrs, it was spinning the drum slowly in the wrong direction...I had to convince it to spin correctly and even then, rpm was maybe at 70 or 80% Considering that it held up for all of moto and some pretty tough battles, I can't complain too much | |

| I bet we can have reversing brushless escs with a pico-switch driven h-bridge setup or something like that, but somehow I don't think that's quite what you're working on... hahaha | |

| If it's doable (my thoughts) it would be a simple re-flashing of the escs...as in the cheapo ones.

| Wow brushless drivetrain sounds spectacular! Keep us posted on the progress.
What assembly language does it use? I know some, but I doubt it will be too useful. lots of analysis, lol

| Did you ever happen to get any where with the heli escs? What kind of current are you seeing with the brushless drive in sting? I was looking through the hobbyking car esc's and remembered this thread. | |

| I've pretty much stopped all r&d on everything... no $$$ Sting is running on a pair of small razors and mamba micro pros at the moment...don;t remember amps, but it seems to be working well, except for failsafe issue | |
