| It's started...
LSTT (ant melty) is good to go as well as Spinning Tortoise (3 lbs)
Sting now has a brushless drivetrain and is good to go
It Stings (12 lbs Sting clone) is also fitted with brushless drivetrain, but needs a larger drum shaft etc....
The 12 lbs melty is still total vapor

| Let me know what you want to do as far as getting the bots to places. I'd be happy to have you ship the lot to me and haul them down myself if that works best for you. | |

I appreciate it... Can you look into a hotel ? Anything hopefully not too pricey. Not meaning to impose, but if you have a car, then it wouldn't necessarily have to be right near FI. I could arrange to have the crap shipped there and avoid the pain?? I can be reached at co2cars@att.net if we need to discuss things. You are only bringing a 30? If so, that wold probably leave plenty of time for you to drive/charge bats on mabe my 3 and 12 drumbots...unless you want to play with the meltys? Let me know Thanks On a side note, mlec will be building a 15 which will be scaled to 12 for testing purposes, and it will most likely be a Ti wrapped single piece alu body similar to LSTT...

| I'll look into hotels. Any general quality range you're looking for? Also, Friday, Saturday, or both? Being able to drive in to the city should make finding somewhere much easier.
Managing the drumbots shouldn't be a problem.

| I just found out that MLEC has a 15 pound event locally on the same day, so I will not be going to Franklin.....some of the little bots may be going without me (which could be a good thing)

| Still not sure if I am going, but possibly 5 bots will be...
Question is will the 12 pound melty be a 2 plate design like spinning tortoise, or acut from a solid alu block like litle spinny tortoise thingie?
any thoughts? | |

| hmm i guess that depends on what you want. two plates is cheaper but the solid block would have a longer life span. if your still in the prototype stage i would say go with the two plate design and when you sure on the design then take the time and effort to make the solid block | |

| The MLEC kids have a solid block 15 already totally designed, so I will try to get them to scale it down to a 12.
Then I just need to hope that I can get a deal on the material somewhere....

| Good and possibly not so good news
the good: Someone is getting me the alu for the 12 melty
not so good: I made v2 of the 3 pound melty, but colsons wear out really quickly on unpainted but smooth plywood, plus amperage draw may be higher, so....???

| Based on the fact that the 3lber(ver 1) was almost as big as your 12's IIRC, then that block must be how big? | |

| About this big... The NEW 3 on top is pretty much the same size as the old V1 Spinning Tortoise | |

What if it turns out to be a dud ????? Sit tight and lets see how these things do at Franklin....and we'll take it from there.... If you were local, I'd trade the machining time for some elbow grease...

If you were local, I'd trade the machining time for some elbow grease... Haha okay....keep in mind its only a 26 hour drive because I really need a reliable machinist. I struck out with two :-/ might be work a 26 hour drive lol I thought that Pistol Pete, inventor of the nutbar, reversing brushless esc, etc. did some work for you??? What happened there?

There was no way i could get a robot done. Who knows i might make an adventure and travel out there. let me know if you will...I could use some help....maybe they'll let you stand in and drive a bot or 2 for me as well....who knows?? I hope to have 4 or maybe 5 bots there....Kyle will drive the 2 small meltys, Mike fron NCR was gonna drive the others, but I still don't know if he is going...if he blows up something on his 30, he won't.... I will undoubtably be coming in off of NO sleep whatsoever, and rying to just charge batteries for 4 or 5 bots, will be tough, not to mention actually fumbling with trying to drive a bot...

The old Spinning Tortiose is possibly up for grabs...interested? You'd need the equivalent or something close to a neu 1105 motor, a pair of 18 amps heli escs (maybe 12 amp if lucky), a battery, etc. Also, a board , accelerometer and some leds. Shop it out if interested???? It worked really well, but ground clearance was only 1/8" with 2" Colsons... Do I have any other OLD ones? I may sell It Stings, my 12 pound drumbot....
