NEED harder wheels for my bigger meltys

My 12 melty wore 2 1/2" Colson performas (measured 2.45" new) down to the nub in almost no time whatsoever on wood. after maybe 2 minutes of running, they measured 2.3" or smaller.

I need a much highr durometer material for those wood floors.....any suggestions? perhaps roller blade wheels? in that they are used on wood???

Depending on how much effort you want to put into it, you could make some custom hubs and cast your own polyurethane wheels. McMaster also sells rods of polyurethane in various hardnesses, so you could get a few and play around with what works.

I've been kindof tunnel vision on this. I guess I could look into getting some rod and making my own.....hmmm

Colson has some 90 durometer wheels, but possibly not in the size that I need....might as well just make some out of something a bit harder....

Contrary to popular belief (at least in my 12) performas might be a little too soft and wear out rather quickly.

The Colsons on the beetle wore down as well, but not as badly..I would say they're ok. The ant wheels wore a bit as well, but least of the 3.

It might have something to do with the width as well,...maybe some differential type scrubbing going on, but they did wear evenly across the whole face of the wheel...

that's why we need you and some others to pick uo the flag and move this melty stuff forward...I haven't got things down to a science just yet..kind of still in the infant stages..in certain ways

as stated in another post...on a 2 wheel melty with wheels diametrically opposed, balance is critical...

as far as custom polyurethane goes, sunray is a great source. They may not be the cheapest place, but I've worked with them before and they'll pretty much do anything and work with you to make sure you've got the right material choice for your application.
