So, any takers? As I posted elsewhere, RoboGames (by ComBots) would be one of the likely tournaments for such a team.

| okay.. for REGIONAL SUPERTEAM, what size should we build? 15 would be easier, and cheaper, and much easier to ship around! | |

| yes but a super-awesome 120 (or even heavier) could be more fun to work with... little shit is a pain in the ass sometimes... | |

| A 120 would be a good first robot. Moving from there to a 220 pound flagship bot would probably be a later goal. | |

| Agreed. That, and how do we manage builds? Seeing as some members would be a few hours away on the other coast. I guess the teams could potentially make different modular sections of robots (yes, I know the problems we'd run into [as do the people at NASA]). One team does the drive, another one makes a full electronics wiring chart, another does the weapon... | |

| I've been chatting with one of the girls at Carrollton about the possibilities of this team being created, and we came upon an problem. How on earth would we fund the robot/robots? She said, and I quote, - A Carrollton Robotics Member wrote:
- it's gonna be hard to find sponsors so soon after competition. People [in other words the Carrollton members] might want to use those for their next year's robot. We've had a lot of trouble fund raising this year due to the economy.
end quote.

If we do the competition Jeff is talking about, we'd wanna do like 60 lb probably, they don't have a 15 lb competition and I think 30 is too small if we're gonna put together a big team.

| Who says you have to build new bots, take all your top 120's and just run the brackets | |

The idea was that we merge teams of very devoted robotics members and if we all put our heads together we could create an unbeatable robot. The whole point was to bring together members from different teams to build new robots.

| I personally think the end goal would be to make a 220 lber, seeing as those are what most random people on the street think of in terms of battlebots (after all, the comedy central show was mostly 220 lb robots). There's some serious prestige to be had if you can pull one of those off and do well at a competition. That said, starting off at 60 or 120 lbs is probably a pretty reasonable goal. | |

| If we're actually gonna do this, if it's gonna be this year, then we need to get together and set stuff up and talk to advisers and blah blah blah and figure out funding SOON. There's only like 2 months left for registration and the competition is in June. And unless we come up with lots of money, or a super awesome very devoted sponsor, I don't see us doing a 220 lber. Plus we need to figure out where to have the meetings. Do we wanna see if we can use StarBot? | |

I'd personally suggest you guys do that this Sunday, since just about all of you are going to be in one spot for several hours . In terms of robots, what was everyone thinking of? The Full-Body Drum? Also, if you intend to use any robot's currently top-secret devices/tricks, you'll need to reveal them to get the design done.

| I can't be there on Sunday, so that won't work. I think we should try and meet over Spring break if that's at all possible, which I highly doubt anyway. But I'm gonna be a research papering on Sunday. | |

Actually, that would solve a lot of the logistics issues for when the question of "Who owns the robot?" comes up. And if it was ever needed for, say, demos or to show off by any one group that's a part of the superteam, they could just have the other robot(s) shipped over.
