| Most of the work I did today was internal. Most of the wires have been run, just waiting on my new kill switches and firecrackers at this point. Gearbox & motor are supposed to be 28oz each, so just a bit lighter than the GB42's I was using. | |

| it's gonna pack a big punch
The question is whether it can withstand it's own power...looks like a lot of plastic
No question, something is going to go flying.....
Good job! | |

| Yep, there's a reason it's named Mr. Self Destruct. Here's a shot of just the chassis- Color code: Dark Grey-Grade 5 Ti Light Grey-2024 Alu Greenish-Garolite Baseplate is garolite, top armor is uhwm. | |

| That's one evil looking weapon--and 9 pounds? Dear lord!
I do wonder, just looking at it, if it's gonna pop wheelies (like a lot). Also, I've wondered for a while if the angled bar causes anywhere near the gyro effects of a drum/vertical disc. With that kind of mass, I'm guessing you'll find out!!
PS for Will--what's the status with the switches? I'm guessing that the 'hard to machine' parts are the copper ones. . .most manufactured copper parts are stamped from sheet--maybe the way to go is to cut steel dies and try that, or heck, pay someone to waterjet 'em. As soft as Cu alloys are, it should cut like butter and thus be quick and cheap to 'jet. Or, is the real problem your current location (I seem to remember CC as one of your summer haunts?)

| As far as gyro stuff goes, you can see some of what is going to happen in this video of my old LW- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICid7VEZUOI&feature=channel_page
That's the same weapon motor/gearbox, 1/2" thick bar(30lber bar is 3/8") and a 52.5lb robot with a differently shaped chassis.
Having the center of rotation at around the mid point front to back should help with the gyro dancing. I'm kinda hoping that if I turn at full speed in the right direction I can make the bot wheelie.

| Do you have any video of you testing it? If not, as soon as you do test it, please post it so we can see. It looks so amazing, I want to see what I'll be up against next year. By the way, nice Ruiner match. Silly hammer bots. You can't beat a spinner. By the way(2), it looks like you blade is reversible. Is this so? And if it is, can you reverse it during the match or do you have it wired one direction and have to physically switch the wires to the motor. SenaiERI | |

| I use a Thor 883 to control the magmotor, so yes, I can reverse on the fly, run at half throttle, etc... | |

| I've decided to retire Apollyon/IO. Working on getting myself an early 70's Datsun Z car. I'll still finish and compete with Mr. SD, but I'm limiting my bot stuff to one bot at a time to help with the cost. | |

| Have you ever seen a z car with a small block chevy swap? they're bad booty, you can achieve the same thing turboing it but its alot cheaper. All depends if you wanna autocross car or a straight line lol | |

| Yeah, it's a pretty common swap. Handling might not be too bad after, as some newer v8's aren't much heavier than the straight 6 it's got now. Either way, power upgrades are coming after suspension work, so it'll be a while. | |

| No real bot news. Still waiting on the Firecrackers. The 260z did survive a round trip from Rochester, NY to Elm City, NC without complaint. Planning brake and suspension upgrades in the nearish future. Build report for Mr. Self Destruct was in the August issue of servo. | |
