I need some heat resistant non-metallic mesh to wrap my drive motors!!

A teardown inspection after GCRS revealed that a lot of metal chips were stuck to the magnets inside the motors. In 1 motor a chip was lodged between the magnet and armature causing the motor to bind!!!

McMaster has a bunch of it, but I'm looking for opinions/options

Thanks
Richard

I have used regular clear transparent tape and wrapped the motor openings and it did not burn up the tape.........

Dont know if it will work for your problem but a low cost suggestion!

My dad is a big proponent of Kapton tape. It's extremely strong, very high dielectric, and applicable up to 356 degrees F.

Kapton tape is great! however, you still want the airflow. I'd get a fabric or plastic mesh.

something like this:

I ordered some mesh from mcM...we'll see how that goes...

This is for our 3's, and we have very little to no weight to spare...

The motors run hot normally cause they're hot motors....lol...duh....???

So taping the openings shut would prpbably be a bad idea, altho I like the K tape for other apps

Will ..I looked at some of that round stuff, but it's more of a bash protector thatn a filter and probably a bit heavy.

Sting has been within 1 to 2 grams of 3 lbs. since it was born.. affraid

Thanks guys...
