| So i went to the local radioshack to see what they had in rechargebles and they only seemed to AA and AAA NIMH Batteries, which what i already have but then i saw the Liion cell phone batts, and the guys said he could cut me a deal on them because they were getting new ones, the thing i was wondering if any one see's any problems with a traditional cell phone battery in a bot? | |

| well first off any clue what the discharge is? i looked at my phone and it says its 3.7v and 800mah
I cant really see using a couple cell phone batteries as really being to feasable, i have a hard enough time with it just in my phone let alone in a bot

| They don't have a discharge rating on them just the voltage and the MAH rating and which are exactly the same as your cell phones battery | |

| If you are going to use them to power your receiver on hte robot, you would most likely be ok. If you were going to power any type of motor... it won't do it. They are design for low output current, not high drain. We tried a few years back and you would get a few rotations and the cells would die instantly.
Thats what make the A123's so popular is their ablity to deliver high current. Other Litium cells can only deliver about 40Amps continously while A123's can deliver 100+amps for a few seconds. More than enough time to get the brushless motors spining at which time the current demand drops.
So... cell phone cells are a no unless you are just eliminating the BEC of the speed controls.
