COPPERHEAD 3 1st place 120 lb High School division BotsIQ 2008
Copperhead was initially designed by Stefan Stephenson-Moe back in 2005. It went through several redesigns, with the last and largest one being mine. We get into the safety check-in box at BotsIQ 2008, and spin up the drum. We took a video of it, and in the video you can hear people saying "that spins really fast" and "that'd be a good battle with Kightrous" or "i want to fight that!" There was a pretty good crowd watching our safety check. The director of BotsIQ, Nola Garcia, came over as we were preparing to take Copperhead out of the safety box, and asked us to spin up the drum again because she had missed it. We did, and her comment was that it was a very good, well-engineered bot. That comment proved prophetic, as we ended up winning the competition.

Best part is, the minor redesigns we did for this year should fix most of the problems that faced us last year...
And if we get Titanium armor... Man that would be awesome.

The damage done by Copperhead 3 last year was impressive to say the least...
That is the thresher from Knightrous that was broken by Copperhead's drum. Hardened S7 Tool Steel, so that sort of damage is impressive to say the least.

Copperhead's drum spinning at it's fastest (4900rpm) has 1.88 MJ of kinetic energy so it really isn't that surprising that we were able to break knightrous's thresher

In case you didn't see it, these are photos from the Titanium Knights' website showing the broken thresher.
Hardened S7 tool steel. Knightrous has (or had) won all kinds of awards in it's career: 3rd place - BotsIQ 2008 Best Engineered Bot - BotsIQ 2008 Coolest Bot - BotsIQ 2008 Best Engineered Bot - BotsIQ 2006 Coolest Bot - BotsIQ 2006
it's a shame it's career was cut so mercilessly short...

I have been double checking your Calculations... They don't come out right.
edit - Will fix when I have more accurate dimensions of everything...
