- you could always just use a servo to manually switch the leads to reverse the motor during a fight, just make sure its secure enough and put it on a switch channel to have stay in contact in one direction and flip the switch and the leads switch. It god awful ugly but i used a similar system on my freshman flipper which had little to no funding so i mad my own motor controller which gave me direction control but no speed. But if you combine my direction setup with an actual speedcontroller your in the clear and its CHEAP
Like a mini version of a reversing contactor... I don't know how any high amperage brushless esc would handle the inrush.... I do know that 100% drag brake on a mamba monster powering a 3 lbs. drum = kaboom, poof , fireworks, wenie roast....

| Not sure on the power requirements, but drum can't go much over 20 or 24k and stay within 500 fps...obviously slower for hs and college | |

Astroflight sold the company, so no more AstroBob

We still have some we used for drive... They just run a bit too hot for me. Eteks are fun, and we almost put one into our middleweight, but it looks like we will try some chinamans brushless.

If I wanted to beat you, I would just build a mortician. In fact, that might be an idea for some future event that professor chaos comes to.

| I cannot defend the cost, but I am CERTAIN that only a natural disaster would cause Nola to change the date at this point. She thinks that last year's uncertainly was very damaging to the event overall. | |

WOW WOW WOW! WHAT!?!?!? You gotta be kidding me. You know how hard I've worked to hit people up in my school for money to go to this competition? Can ya'll keep us outsiders in the loop as to what is going on? I don't want to look like a fool in front of the engineering department and tell them that this isn't going to happen because of bad organization. Nola's awesome but we don't hear anything about botsiq except for the forum so we would really appreciate you guys telling us what's going on. Thanks.

I seriously doubt that anything will change.....It has been $300 per 15 for more than afew years now, and the date got pushed back so as to hold the event at the convention center, which was booked for the original date. So if interested, I'd make my plans asap, cause it is going to happen. Hope to see you there!!

I agree. That's the problem with holding a local competition and calling it a national one. I love Nola and competition they hold, but there is no communication with anyone outside of Miami. I'd love to hold a Dallas competition but money is rare and time is even more scarce.

| I'm not here to defend the Battlebots people, and I agree that last year could have been a disaster for MLEC...with the west coast cancellation and all. I hope that no one booked flights, etc that they couldn't get out of.
But I do think that Nola did step in and was able to get the IQ side up and running , while the non-educational side went down the tubes.
I truly hope that we can all put the past behind us and that as many people as possile will support the few events that we actually do have, beit Moto, the NRL or BotsIQ.
Low turnouts at any of these events could be bad news for future competitions.
