I bent a 3/8 hard shaft in Sting.....lol....I don't think it would do too well in a 15 pounder

| Working on the armour now. Its gonna consist of a underlayer of 3/8'' aluminum with a nice thick piece of UHMW capped over it. Just a mockup of the sides, the rear will get a layer of UHMW aswell. I may do another version with a floating wedge i used for Redemption. Since i got all this put on its close to its final size/footprint. Its about 9.5 inches from front of the front plates to the rear plate, and from the outsides of the the UHMW to each other about 14 inches | |

| Drum design looks good.... Almost the same as Rocko and our first robot.....
I will point this out..... There is a lot of chatter and not good bite with this design.......
I dont know why but we have never really had a good bite with anything under 4" and a flat blade........
The offset teeth will help as to put more time between hits but you should rake angle the back of the S7 and Cove them on the impact side.
We have went as far out as 1.5 inches from the drum and had good results with the S7 not bending or breaking... at 1 inch plus we have bent the 6061 drum where the slides go to mount the S7.
All drums were using the same set-up for attachment as yours. We actually used a regular .5 inch ID .75 OD .25 W bearing on both sides of the drum that was pressed into a 2.5 diameter piece of 6061 then used 4 bolts to attach the drum to the 6061. Attached the timing pulley to the end with 6 bolts just outside of the bearing piece that houses the 6061.
See if you can find any pics of XLR8ED or Rocko on Bots IQ

| I found a Solidworks model of Redemption so i put Boreas and Redemption side to side. Made me chuckle quite a bit. Solidworks butchered the Redemption model but hes mostly there....mostly.. I still have many many refinements to do the Boreas that will make it a bit more compact, (notice the larg space between the weapon and frame. | |

5 pounds of S7 glory. It only weighs 2 pounds more than Sting......waaaaaa and it's probably thrice the size LxW or more...hahaha If you put the bot on its side, and turn on the beater, does the bot spin instead of the beater???

Oh it had gyro.... Our 1" Cube Magnet eliminated that at Nationals. But at 8,000rpm it had minimal gyro.. Tell Alex and the rest of the Plum gang to keep a bot handy for a grudge match at CalU or Century III.... I may resurrect Redemption. Muahahahaha. And no rj, it does not. It did get stuck on its side at Nationals, and when i layed on the throttle the bot turned a bit, then eventually flipped itself back over.

| Those magnets i was playing with were hard drive magnets. We got a bunch of magnets donated to us. We used the 1'' for Redemption at Century 3 and the .75'' we used i think the first day at Nationals. If we had those at Century or Ohio it would have been great! I still have two of the .75'' ones. They are fun as hell. As for our bots, get massacred for the next bot or at least for extra electronics. Bosshawg currently is in pieces and Redemption is a shell with no electronics. Groundhawg is the same and Warthawg is gutted aswell. I wanna take Redemption but he is school property... I will get a beater at least.. | |
