| I agree it would be sweet, just not if trey charges anything near the 300 per bot the 120 class costs. | |

| I tell you if this happens for this year, I could probably get a bunch of kids from Puerto Rico to come down and participate

| Aaaaannnnd, she said "Sure, why not?"
She also has a pretty impressive (i.e. imho unrealistic) list of other competitions to cram into the 4 day event as well, including a VEX thing (not a qualifier), First Lego League, a Submersible/Underwater Robots event, and some other kinds of design challenges, all in addition to a 120 and 15 pound set of events.
It is going to be in a location that IS ten times the size of the one last February, but I just don't see how there are gonna be enough participants, much less enough people to organize and run things.

| Here's to hoping the reg. fees aren't $200/Beetle...
Any word yet on the timing of the event?
Edit: I think I saw April somewhere, but I can't find the post now.

| April for sure. I had the dates, but misplaced them. I will put that up here next week when I find the paper.
I asked about fees, and Nola said that they will never again be as high as they were last year, but she cant give a number right now. I don't know what was different about last year, so I'm not sure how she can say that. I do know that it is not a 'for profit' endeavor, so I guess she's found someone to help foot the bill.
I also don't know what costs so much about running an event--organizers had to rent the pit tables and chairs, as well as the cooling fans they had last year, and I think they had to pay for storing, repairing/updating, and shipping the arenas, as well as some labor to set them up (well the big one anyway--our team set up the small one and all the pit tables). Greg and Trey have their travel and hotel fees covered. I know that the people working the event are all volunteers. Usually, though not always, the location and power are donated by the city or the building owners. There are also some permitting and inspection fees that the city sometimes waives. I'm sure I'm forgetting something. So, I suppose it can all add up pretty quickly, but I agree that last year's fees seemed high.

| She said that the April date was the only one in which the city (Miami Beach) had open at the venue (Miami Beach Convention Center--same as 2009), so I feel that's pretty firm. I still haven't checked on the exact dates--sorry. | |
