This year we held an insect event at the USF Engineering Expo in February. Unfortunately it was one week before BotsIQ.

Next year, with BotsIQ in April, I wanted to see how much interest there would be if we ran a 15 lb event as well?

We don't have the date set yet, but it would be on a Friday or Saturday

We'd likely be following the NRL ruleset, which disallows LiPo batteries, and I wanted to see how big of an issue this would be. This being our first year, and since alot of teams from Miami run LiPo, we may be able grandfather in LiPo bots this time, but it will depend on what the University will allow/is insured for.

Update:
The event will either be held February 17th or 18th (Friday or Saturday).

There will be more foot traffic/onlookers on Friday, but I can see it being more difficult to arrange with school/work schedules etc. What are your thoughts?

The (few) responses I've seen have been split evenly between needing LiPo and not(2-2), is this about right for teams in the area?

If possible I'd like to get a count of the total number of robots interested. It's hard to tell solely based on peoples votes. I'll start the list and keep it updated.

Once we get a rough Idea of the bots and the date setup, I will create an event on Buildersdb, but if you know anyone not currently on the forum that would be interested would you direct them here, or contact me by email: smcamis "at" mail.usf.edu

If there isn't enough interest to justify an Edu competition, we'll still be hosting an open 150g-3lb event the same weekend and may still run exhibition matches with the 15s.
