| Our machinist sponsor is questioning whether or not they can mill UHMW for our team. They are afraid of melting the material. We might have to do this inhouse. Our shop however is limited to a techno router that only lowers to 10,000 rpm for spindle speed. Am I going to be able to do this at our shop? If so, how should I go about it? | |

"Milling: Cutters designed for machining aluminum give the best results. Cutting speeds of 600 to 1,800 feet per minute are suggested, with a feed rate of approximately .01 inches per revolution. Router bits work well for slotting and light milling."
The stuff's fantastic to mill. | |

| They can mill it.... Just slow it down or add some juice... Usually it is not the melting but the fraying that is worried about.

| the fraying depends on it your climb cutting or conventional cutting. climb cutting will give you the little fuzzes and conventional cutting usually gives you a clean finish. | |
